What started as a
four-part series on the 125-year history of Fredericton Raceway has grown to include
over 15,000 visitors during this two month period. While we have a strong presence in New
Brunswick and the rest of the Maritimes, especially Charlottetown, we have many
regular visitors from the rest of Canada and the United States and many
countries around the world. Some of the
hotspots include the greater Toronto area, New York-New Jersey area and Florida
where they are racing this winter. That is a lot of transplanted Maritimers!
As time and work
permits, I plan to continue this blog for the foreseeable future so please keep
checking in. We will continue to focus
on Fredericton and the rest of New Brunswick with some interesting stories on
some of our many outstanding horse people and their horses of yesterday and
today.

looked at some of the greatest horses ever produced at Fredericton Raceway and
it was noted after the blog was published that Prancer Pete and Night Hunter
were mistakenly omitted from the Top 15 Fredericton horses by lifetime wins in
the modern era. Below you will find a
revised list with an added few ‘bubbling under’.

This year Todd Trites should achieve two significant driving milestones in what has been an outstanding career thus far. Assuming he continues to win races with the regularity of last few years, Trites only needs 77 wins to hit the 2,000 lifetime win milestone. Also, he is only $8,162 away from eclipsing $3 million in career earnings.
