In 2023, Todd Trites became the leading dash-winning driver of all
time from Fredericton Raceway with 2,443 career wins, taking over from
Mike Downey, who has 2,430. He is only 57 wins away from 2,500.
Todd is
also second in career earnings behind Mike Stevenson, who is far and
away the leading money winning driver. Mike has a good chance of
passing $10 million in career earnings in 2024.
Yesterday we reviewed some of the greatest horses ever
developed at Fredericton Raceway but the picturesque oval was also the
launching ground for a number of great drivers. Some of those drivers are
native to Fredericton while others relocated and began their harness
racing careers here primarily. Please consider that some drivers have stats prior to the 1970s that are not included in their totals. So with that in mind, let's flash back and remember some names from past and present.
