Fredericton Raceway "Golden Jubilee" Club - Drivers of the last 50 years by stats - 2025 edition

Mike Stevenson reached several major milestones in 2025, highlighted by surpassing the $10 million mark in career earnings. His total of $10,393,133 puts him more than $6 million ahead of his closest Fredericton-based rival. By year’s end, Stevenson had also eclipsed 16,000 career drives and recorded over 2,200 wins—an impressive feat made even more remarkable by the fact it came after his return from a serious injury in 2024.  He was also inducted into the Fredericton Raceway Hall of Fame this past May.

Mike Downey continues to redefine longevity in the sport. Following a strong 2025 season, he now sits just 11 wins shy of becoming Fredericton’s all-time leading dash winner. Downey’s career has spanned an incredible seven decades, from the 1960s through the 2020s, and after 56 years in the sulky, he is only 43 victories away from reaching the 2,500-win milestone.

Earlier this week, we revisited some of the greatest horses ever developed at Fredericton Raceway, but the scenic oval has also served as the launching pad for many outstanding drivers. Some were born in Fredericton, while others relocated and began their harness racing careers here. It’s worth noting that statistics for some drivers prior to the 1970s are not fully reflected in their career totals. With that in mind, let’s take a look back and remember some of the standout drivers from both past and present.
